Copying Tables from PDF to Excel

Good day everyone,

Trust some of you out there would have encountered the problem of copying tables from PDFs to Excel for data analysis which might have resulted in significant amounts of time spent re-typing the entire contents of the table with the potential of typos.

Glad to share a workaround that could save some extraction time and hopefully reduce the chances of typos.

Typical Scenario Step 1 (Selecting entire .pdf table and copy)

Typical Scenario Step 2 (Pasting table into Excel)

Table is pasted into a single column where you need to do a Text to columns to relocate data across columns. For uniform data with numerous columns, Text to columns might be a more efficient method than the following workaround.

Workaround Step 1 (Selecting entire .pdf column and copy)

Hold down Alt key while dragging to select the entire column

Workaround Step 2 (Pasting column into Excel)

Repeat Step 1 and 2 for all columns

Hope above would shave some OverTime off your schedule and let us know in the comments below what are your favourite workarounds for extracting PDF tables.
